WHAT AN EXCITING EVENING

This is me being the All Black

It started when we were at school getting ready to go to Motueka High School to practise for that night's extravaganza. First we sang Michael Jackson's song Rock'n Robin. After that some of us, counting me, did When I Grow Up. I was the All Black who was getting the ball from the ruck and kicking it over the post. It was really nerve wracking but at the end I was glad that I did it.

I'm a brother of two and I have a Mum and Dad. I like rugby and tennis but I don't like netball and girls. My friends are all the boys in the class and I have two best friends. My favourite pets are dogs and I have two dogs named Ace and Jess. I want to be a Search and Rescue dog handler when I grow up. My hobbies are collecting cards and my favourite sport is rugby. I've played rugby since I was five.

It was really nerve-wracking but once you get through the first song you get used to doing it on stage in front of everybody.

Last week on Wednesday we did a school extravaganza. We did Rockin' Robin. First I was on a ukulele then we did When I grow up and get a job I'll tell you what I'll be. I was a postman. It was fun. No one could get a good picture because of the fluorescent light on my jacket.

SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE!

Once upon a time there was a Whitebait and the mighty Swordfish that ruled the sea but the Swordfish was stupid while the White bait was smart and resourceful.

One day the little Whitebait said to Swordfish, “Hey, I will race you to China and back. First one gets as much as they would like from the other’s Home”.

The Swordfish said “okay”.

They got to the starting line. Go! They swished away. The Swordfish didn’t go. He stayed for four days and nights. By this time the Whitebait was at China. Then the Swordfish said “I’m going to go to see my cousin’s in China,” as the Sword fish went speeding 50km per hour. The Whitebait was going 5km per hour and also Sword fish stayed in China for one day. As the whitebait was coming back home {New Zealand Nelson} he was 500 km away five hours later. Then 80 km away he could see Takaka The Sword fish was three quarters of the way there. Whitebait Won! and got $1,000,000 fish money The Whitebait said “Six long days”. The end

My name's Jenna. I'm ten years old. I live in a wonderful country called New Zealand. I have a Mum a Dad and a little bro.

My favourite thing to do is swimming. I'm a competitive swimmer. I get up twice a week at 5.45am and I go to the pools which are half an hour away. We train for an hour and a fifteen minutes. I love swimming! I do heaps of competitions.

My other sports that I do are tap dancing, netball and touch rugby.

I have two best friends, Imogen and Leea.

So I'm a sports guru. I'm good at English. I have a credit in that subject. I love being around my friends. I also love Thai food mmmmm..... yummy.

WHAT AN EXCITING EVENING ON THE STAGE

On the stage there were bright lights shining in our eyes, we bowed and then walked off the stage while the crowd was clapping and cheering. That is what all the kids did in the Riwaka School Extravaganza and some, like me, were on stage twice. I did singing and gymnastics. One of the funniest acts went wrong when Luca was on stage being a painter and Jessica an air hostess. Luca swung his paint brush and accidentally banged it into Jessica's head. At the end of that performance everyboby clapped and cheered really loudly. Back stage people were playing on ipod touches and some were sitting in front of the TV watching a movie. I did not feel nervous because I've been on stage ten times now and the dance was easy to remember so I didn't have to worry about all the adrenalin. On the stage or off the stage it was alot of fun !

ZAAZOO AND ZION, THE GAZELLES

Two small gazelles needed to come up with a brilliant plan to stop the lion pride from attacking the herd.

“Why don’t we move to where the grass is lusher so the lions are more visible in the the bright green grass,” said Zion.

“Everybody knows that the lush green grass is over the other side of Killer River, the river filled with huge fresh water crocodiles. If you want to face certain doom then sure!” said Zaazoo.

“Ok then, we need a different plan,” said Zion.

“It just isn’t fair we’re just sitting here waiting until it’s time for the lions to ambush again, and I’m positive another gazelle will be gone. Life is a privilege out here. You could be here today but you could be snatched away by the lions tomorrow,” said Zaazoo sadly.

“I’ve got it. We need to coat the lion in that sticky smelly mud. We’ll smell her for miles. It will give us heaps of time to hide or run,” said Zion.

“You can’t do that you’ll be eaten!” yelled Zaazoo.

Moral easier said than done.

One week we got to do what ever we wanted to do for our homework and I did a paper mache horse. Mrs Adams gave me a pass to the Zirka circus which I'm going to with some friends, my mum and my brother.

My likes are music, food and computers. I am pretty good at singing as well. I like eating and like cooking pancakes, french toast (lost bread) and eggs. I am really good on the computer. I am the best in my class and better than my teacher at a few activities.. My favourite food is cheese.

Lately I have been on a big trip to Europe with my sister and mum. We went to England, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg and France.

WHAT AN EXCITING EVENING
We played the song Rockin' Robin on the ukulele, piano, xylophone and castanets while the rest of us sang. Blake, Kyle, Luca, Jessica, Joseph, Fynn, Isabella and Taylor did a skit called When I Grow Up. Some girls in our class also did Gymnastics.

Here is us on stage. It was really exciting and scary at the sametime. We were all really nervous back stage and we all got scared when the other song stopped.

My Fable

Once there were two friends, a cat and a dog. The dog was having a birthday party and the cat’s was the next day. “Hey Cat do you want to come to my birthday?” the dog asked.

“Ok,” said the cat. “Do you want to come to mine?”

“Ok,” said the dog.

So the cat went out to get Dog a small present while the dog went to set up his party.

Later on when Cat gave Dog his present Dog saw it was small and it only cost a dollar. Cat had a fun time but Dog thought it was mean that Cat gave him a small present.

At Cat’s birthday Cat was excited but when he saw that Dog’s present was as small as his he asked, “Dog why do I get such a small present?”

“Because you gave me one the same size,” replied Dog.

Moral: Give as much as you want in return.

I live with my Mum, Dad, little five year old sister and my pet cat, Domino. My friends are Amber, Leea, Cheyenne, Lucy J, Lucy R and the nearly twins, Jenna and Imogen.

I like the color blue, denim jeans, chicken and chocolate. I especially like swimming. My dislikes are the boys in my class, running, brusell sprouts and really girly stuff.

THE EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

Тhе extravaganza started like this.

All of the school in little classrooms in the high school, whispering and clutching their tummies, trying to get rid of the butterflies. Watching the clock, waiting to go into the wings ready to perform. But not me! I've done shows and drama club ever since I was four. So there we were listening to the crowd applause room five. FUN FUN FUN! That's what the next ten or so minutes were. The first item we did was a song Michael Jackson used to sing called Rockin' Robin. It was super fun to jump and sing and play instruments. I played the piano and I got a little bit stunned when the bright light came on me, but I smiled because I knew people were looking at me. It was a great night and I beamed with pride when my family told me what a great job I'd done.

The Winter Hibernation

One autumn day Bear was collecting his food and berries for the winter when Rabbit came and asked if Bear wanted to come and play with her in the forest.

‘No Rabbit, I can’t come and play,’ Bear said.

‘Why ever not? Surely you want to come and jump in the leaves with me?’ she said.

‘I can’t come because I’m collecting food for the winter hibernation. You’re supposed to be doing that too, Rabbit,’ Bear protested.

‘But I can do that later. Anyway, I’m going to jump in the leaves,’ she argued.

‘Fine. But don’t come running to me for food when you get hungry in the winter,’ Bear told her.

When Bear was just about to go into the den, about three weeks later, Rabbit bounded in.

‘Bear! Bear! You were right, I should have listened to you!’ Rabbit cried.

‘So I’m guessing you need food now? Am I right Rabbit?’ Bear asked her.

‘Yes! I know I shouldn’t have played in the forest, because right now I’m supposed to be going to sleep for a couple of months, but I don’t have any food in me!’ and she burst into tears.

‘So now you’ve learnt a lesson for the the years to come, haven’t you?’ Bear said with a wise look in his eyes.

‘I sure have Bear, and that lesson is...’

‘Do the work and then have the fun!!’ they both chanted together.

And the moral to this story is: Work now, play later.

WHAT A WONDERFUL NIGHT!
On the 22 of September Riwaka School did an extravaganza. The audience loved the show and would like to see it again because everyone practised for weeks and weeks and it ended up being very good.
When I got up on stage I was scared I was going to get something wrong. My dad really liked Lucy's speech and Jack's speech. My dad said that is was all done well.

The Frog and the Lion

Once upon a time there was a Frog and a Lion who decided to have a race.

So the next day the frog and the lion had the race . The lion was in the lead. “ I’m going to beat you” said the lion

“ Oh really” said Frog

“See you at the finish line Frog,” said lion

Lion was so far ahead that he decided to have a a sleep in the bush . When lion was in his deep sleep frog passed him.

“Bye Lion!” said frog

Off frog went slow and steady. Lion woke up.

“Were is frog oh he is up there i’ll go to my house and get my car” said lion “Ok I’m in my car all i need to do is get back to the race . There is the finish line so i need to go across and i will be there ” said lion. “I won I won ” said lion

An animal came out from the forest. “You can’t drive in a walking race” said the animal from the forest so frog won the race .

My friends are Jessica, Charlie, India, Jade, Isabella, Leea and Cheyenne. We like to play Poison at lunch time. My favourite colour is Aqua. My favourite food is my Mum's home baked chocolate chip cookies. When I grow up I would like to be a kindergarten teacher.

WHAT AN EXCITING EVENING!!

On Wednesday the twenty-first of September our school all did a show called 'Riwaka Extravaganza!' Each class made up a different performance to show the audience. There were dances and actors. We did a Room Six Medley. We played a song that Michael Jackson wrote and performed when he was a child. It was Rockin' Robin. There were people singing, playing recorder, ukelele, castanets, piano and xylophone. Our next piece was Lucy, Leea, Imogen, Cheyenne, Charlie and Jenna doing their gymnastics routine that they made up. Our third and final piece was When I grow up. The audience was in hysterics when Luca started speaking. Lucy also shared her winning speech. The night was awesome and everyone had fun, no matter what they were doing. The Extravaganza was wicked and I really want to do it again sometime.

Quiet Mouse and Loud Leopard

One day, Quiet Mouse was going for a walk in the sunny park. He passed a couple of birds who were on the playground.

They hopped over to him and yelled, “WE DON’T LIKE YOU, BECAUSE YOU LOOK WEIRD!”

Quiet Mouse quickly scampered away. He heard a lot of excited shouts coming from behind him. He turned around and saw Loud Leopard. All of the animals at the park were crowding around him saying, “Wow! We love you, because you’re SO cool!”

Quiet Mouse felt ashamed of himself. He scampered off to his mouse hole. When he was there he started sobbing. Quiet Mouse didn’t come out for a whole week.

A few weeks after that dreadful day, Quiet Mouse heard someone yell, “HELP, HELP!” Quiet Mouse recognized the voice immediately. It was Loud Leopard.

“I’M COMING!” Quiet Mouse shouted as loud as he could.

He ran as fast as he could and he was there in a few minutes. He saw that Loud Leopard was in trouble. He had seen a rabbit that ran into its burrow and Loud Leopard had got his head stuck in the entrance. Quiet Mouse thought of an idea quickly.

“Loud Leopard! I can help you! I will nibble at the hole until it is big enough for you to get your head out!” Quiet Mouse said.

“Thank-you!” yelled Loud Leopard.

After a couple of hours Loud Leopard was out.

Two birds hopped up to Quiet Mouse and said, “We’re so sorry that we said we hated you! We love you now!” Quiet Mouse smiled.

From then on no-one teased or said anything rude to anyone.

Moral of the story - Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, so don’t judge a person by how they look.

Last week we got to do anything we wanted for our home learning. I didn't know what to do until my sister suggested that I should make a poster. So I did. I thought I would do it about Harry Potter. It was fun to make. I also decided to make a robot. It was easy and fun to make also. I also made a Smurfz poster with Lucy.

The Rabbit and the Fox

Once there was a fox and a rabbit.

Rabbit was having a very great day until Fox came looking for food and spotted Rabbit who ran for her life. Suddenly she saw a cliff with sharp rocks and bones at the bottom. She was really scared so she ran through the bushes and there was another cliff. She didn’t see it. She fell and so did Fox. That was the end of Fox and Rabbit.

Moral: Look before you leap.

I'm a year five student in room 6. I've recently participated in the UNSW Spelling and English tests. My friends at school are Lucy, Leea, Jade, Amber, Cheyenne and India though my best friend Tayla lives in Christchurch so I don't see much of her.

My favourite game is either Poison, soccer or playing with my Burmese cat; Scruppy. I mainly play with Amber, India and Cheyenne but I sometimes play with Jade and Izzy.

My favourite food is chicken coated in peanut sauce from Chokdee. My favourite snack is mini-lasagnes.

We have many awesome tourist attractions in Motueka such as Kaiteriteri beach. Kaiteriteri beach is warm and it has golden sand that squishes through your toes.

This is the beautiful Kaiteriteri beach.

Another great place is Celsius cafe. They make the best fries in town!

Just off Kaiteriteri is Split Apple Rock. It's a rock like a split apple.

Split Apple rock is showing it brings peace with it's 'v'.

We also have a mean skate park with half pipes, quarter pipes and a cool dirt track.

Motueka skate park has HEAPS of fun stuff to do.

WHAT AN EXCITING EVENING

Earlier on this year Riwaka had a concert, 'Riwaka School Extravaganza' As a whole show it was spectacular because we had heaps of great props such as costumes, painted backgrounds and some even had videos on the data projector.

Our class sang Rocking Robin with people on xylophones, pianos, ukuleles and we all sang. I performed in When I Grow up and get a Job alongside Luca, Taylor, Izzy, Joseph, Kyle and Blake. Some girls did a gymnastics routine.

I had butterflies before I went on stage but after I'd said my last, 'Here's your coffee, here's your tea and here's your bag to puke in' I was really glad and proud of myself because I'd amused people and that's what I like to do.

The Jungle Job

Once there was a mouse named Service Mouse. Service Mouse did all the work for Giraffe, Cheetah and Elephant. Service Mouse lived in an underestimated bungalow that all the other animals had forgotten about. The rest of the animals houses were big, flash and made of the finest wood around. Service Mouse scurried around following orders the other animals had given him like cooking, cleaning, building and lots of other chores.

One very hour of one very afternoon Giraffe made his mind up that the board was to have a meeting. Of course, Service Mouse had cooked and cleaned for the whole event. When Service Mouse was cleaning crumbs up and all the big animals had taken a seat they started their discussion.

“This jungle is too old fashioned,” said Giraffe. “It needs to be newer and well, better.”

“Well let’s set to work on the new jungle then,” said Cheetah.

“We can’t,” said Giraffe.

“Why not?” chorused Elephant and Cheetah.

“The only way we can get the materials is if we destroy our homes!” said Giraffe. Service Mouse had heard the whole conversation. He was horrified. All the other animals sat in thought, not wanting to destroy their homes.

Suddenly Service Mouse squeaked, “Uh, um, excuse me. I have an idea,”

“Why, that’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all day! You’re just a Service Mouse,” said Elephant.

“Yes, I know I am Sir Elephant but could we maybe build the new jungle out of leaves, rocks, vines and sticks?”

“Why, that’s a marvellous idea!” said Cheetah. All the other animals agreed. The next day the animals set to work to build their new jungle singing;

“Thank you Service Mouse!”

Moral; Don’t underestimate the smallest of people.

Leo was a lion and lived in blazing heat of Africa. He was known far and wide for his hunting skills.

In North Africa lived a pack of lions called the Titans. They needed another hunter and had heard of Leo. They agreed to meet him at the water hole.

As soon as Leo had heard the news he said, “Yes,” without another question.

Working as a hunter in the Titans pack was hard work. Leo was as tired as he had ever been. He wanted to go back to living alone but he had already agreed to hunt for the Titans’ pack.

It Takes More Than Two to Fix Something

One lonely morning a stray but cute kitty came strutting along looking for something to do but she couldn’t think of any thing to do by herself.

All this cat had was acquaintances, no friends of any kind and she’d think making imaginary friends would be weird.

After two hours of nothing a poor little puppy came stumbling along needing help because he had a cut.

As the boxer stumbled along the the kitten said, “Hi! I’m Stratty Tat. Are you okay?”

“Um .... no” said the boxer. “My old friend Tattle Toes the raven was angry that I let his dinner get away so he clawed me.”

“Oh!” Said Stratty Tat.” How about you tell me your name and I’ll take you down to the alleyway where I can fix your cut.

“Thanks,” said the boxer. “My name is Bear.”

“Okay then Bear, come with me and I’ll fix your cut!”

Finally they turned up where Stratty Tat lived.

“Oww,” said Bear.

“I’m trying to fix you up!” Stratty Tat said.

“Hoo Hoo,” said Brumby the owl.

“Who? Who?” Stratty Tat and Bear chanted.

“ It is I, the wound fixing person!” said Brumby.

“Doctor,” Stratty Tat said.

“ Oh right,” said Brumby. “I can fix your cut!”

So Brumby grabbed a woven hay strap and tied it to Bear’s leg with some river reed and said, “Wait about a week before taking it off.”

“Thanks,” they said.

“Hey, since I fixed your wound will you guys be my friends?”said Brumby.

“Sure!” they said.

What an Exciting Night!!!

The first minute I jumped on stage I felt so EMBARRASSED. I stood smiling though my body felt like a flaming ball of fire. I stood there playing the ukulele. At last we had finished. I felt relieved that we had done it. It was also very very, funny. I liked watching Luca he was very funny. I liked Rock'n Robin Michael Jackson's classic. The audience loved it.

One fine day in the Amazon Jungle a bunny was ring barking a tree when he saw a moving figure. He went to take a closer look. It was a cat that looked ugly and was missing a leg.

“No, please don’t eat me,” said the bunny.

“Of course not,” said the cat. “ You ‘re too big for me to eat.”

They became friends. The cat was good at climbing trees and the bunny wasn’t but the rabbit was good at digging and the cat wasn’t. They became best friends and lived happily ever after.

What an exciting night!!!

The Riwaka Extravaganza was such an amazing night! First, the kapa haka group welcomed the audience and that included me. I thought that was a great start for the show. We did a song called Rock'n Robin that we have been preparing for weeks. Some people were playing the piano, some people were playing the ukulele and some people were playing the xylophones and we were all singing. Our next performance was the "When I Grow Up" song. It was a humorous sight. Then the year six girls and Charlie (a year five) did a gymnastics dance. It was awesome and radical! The gym dance was performed by Charlie, Lucy, Jenna, Imogen, Cheyenne and Leea (which is me). When I did the show I felt very nervous and excited at the same time but after the show I felt relieved because it was over!

The Mouse and the Crocodile

There was a mouse that lived in the jungle. The mouse was squeaky and had a long tail.

One day the mouse was walking beside the lake when suddenly he saw a big crocodile.

“AHHH”, the mouse squeaked. “Please don’t eat me, please don’t eat me.”

“Don’t worry little mouse, I won’t hurt you,” snapped the crocodile. “I may look big and scary, but it doesn’t mean, I’m big and scary.”

“Oh, sorry,” the little mouse said.

They both discovered not to judge a book by its cover. They became friends for a long time and they never forgot that message

Hi Lucy fans!

I love slurping up macaroni, having lots of money and being around my friends!
I have no siblings which is good in a way. I'm a Year 6 in Room 6 and having a great year.
l play netball and my positions are GA and GS. My favourite subject at school is sport! I'm a good runner and was selected to run at Saxton Field in Nelson.

WHAT AN EXCITING EVENING!!
On Wednesday night our school had an EXTRAVAGANZA.
Our class played Rockin' Robin and some people in our class did a skit called When I grow up. Luca was hilarious! He whacked Jessica in the head with the paintbrush. Later on that evening I had to share my winning speech in front of about 200 people. SCARY!! I also came third in the District Speeches. At the end of the night all the parents were amazed. The night was awesome and everyone had a fabulous time.

Skunk’s First House Job

Mrs and Mr Goose were leaving their house for a week because they were going on vacation. They had hired Skunk to look after their house.

This was Skunk’s first time looking after someone’s house. So Mrs Goose wrote a list for Skunk.

She said, “ Do exactly what the list says and nothing else.”

So Skunk read, “ Number one , When the sun comes in draw the curtains.”

“That sounds like a funny thing to do. Why would I draw the curtains?” And then she thought again. “Do exactly what the list says and nothing else.”

So she got out her drawing book out and drew the curtains.

“ Right one job down. One more to go,” she said.

Skunk read “ After you have finished in the house put the lights out! ”

“WHAT !” exclaimed Skunk. “ Im not about to put all the lights out on the washing line thats for clothes, what was Mrs Goose thinking? “Oh that’s right. I have to do exactly what the list says and nothing else.” She said sadly.”

So she went and got the washing basket with all the lights in it and put them on the washing line.

Mrs and Mr Goose came home the next day absolutely horrified!

“What have you done Skunk?” they cried.

“I have done exactly what the list said and nothing else.”

Moral: Make sure you are clearly heard.

WHAT AN EXCITING EVENING

I was waiting for a long time in a class room on a Wednesday night. I wasn't feeling nervous because I had been on stage six times before. Finally, after about twenty minutes of waiting or what felt like to me three years we went into the hall to wait. I did singing and gymnastics. While I was back stage waiting for the " When I Grow Up " to finish with some others we were mucking around and we heard a bit of a yell and later we heard that Jessica had been hit on the back of the head by Luca on stage. But in the end the students and parents loved it!

Rufflehead and the sardines

Four Seagulls were looking around for food. Their names were Redeyes, Fluffytail, Sixtoes and Rufflehead. Rufflehead was called that because his feathers were always in a mess. It was a stormy day and Rufflehead had found some left over chips.

“What have you found over there, Rufflehead?” asked Redeyes.

“Nothing,” lied Rufflehead and he quickly ate all the chips.

The next day a truck full of sardines came and was unloaded into a big shipping container. Three of the Seagulls quickly went to eat the odd sardines that fell off.

“I want to eat from the big piles of sardines,” Rufflehead said to himself. “I hate eating from the ground. ”

So Rufflehead flew into the container.

“Where’s Rufflehead?” asked Sixtoes.

“Probably gone off to find some food for himself,” said Sixtoes.

The three Seagulls flew off to play Hide and Seek.

Rufflehad had eaten a huge amount of sardines. He heard the three others laughing and shouting and having a great time... without him.

He began to feel very lonely.

“Why did I come in here?” he asked himself.

After a while he went to sleep. He woke up to hear the door opening. He was out of there faster then you could say, “Sardines”.

On the way to find his friends he found a full pottle of chips.

“Friends, friends!” he called. “Come and see what I have found.”

The three Seagulls went over to see what he had. They all shared a happy meal together and Rufflehead always shared everything from then on.

Moral: Money ( or in this case sardines ) can’t buy happiness.

WHAT A WONDERFUL NIGHT!!

On the 22nd of September Riwaka school did an Extravaganza. I did, When I Grow Up. I was a teacher. It was really nervewracking. My favourite part was when room four came out and did the under the sea. I really think we did well I also think that the Gymnastics group did pretty well too. After the show I felt really proud of myself.

Once there were two cats. One was called Charlie and one was called Alex.

Charlie was walking along a field when Alex bumped into him.

Alex said, “What’s your name?”

Charlie replied, “Charlie.’’

Alex kept on saying things about himself like, ‘‘I am four years old. I live in this field.” Charlie never got to say a word. Charlie got so angry he walked off.

Alex did not know why he walked off so he ran back to Charlie and said, “Why did you run off?”

Charlie said, “I didn’t get to say a word.”

Moral: Never just talk about yourself.

WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT!

On the 22nd of September the Riwaka Extravaganza took place. The audience really enjoyed the whole show. I personally think we all did well because everyone practised for weeks and the finished product was superb. My favourite part of the show was when Massive was on. It was awesome. When it was our class's turn I was scared I would get something wrong but I think I did really well. I think the audience was quite amused and I hope they enjoyed our performance.

One sunny afternoon a beautiful, fine feathered bird called Jade flew out of her nest. Jade was on a mission, to find some food. But instead Jade started doing tricks and showing off to all the other birds in the forest.

A dusty looking bird called Brainy flew through the trees and told beautiful Jade that she needed to help collect food for the winter. But the problem was, Jade didn’t know how to collect food.

So Brainy taught her how to collect food such as berries and worms.

From that day on Jade helped to collect food for the winter.

Moral: Fine feathers don’t make fine birds.

Our class swims for half an hour every day for six weeks at the beginning of the year and six weeks at the end of year. We have a bigger pool than other schools. Ours is solar heated. All of our class is really confident in the water and most of us are good swimmers. Only three people can't swim a length. Eight of our class members were selected to swim at the district swimming sports.

We did wonderful things at the Interschool sports.

At the start of the year our class worked out class rules to make sure our class is a happy and safe place to learn.

We have stamped out putdowns and name calling .We stand up for ourselves and we don't get bullied.

Every year we go to the Life Education bus to do a health topic. There is a puppet giraffe called Harold.We watch videos and play games with rubber body parts.

This year we will also be doing the Kia Kaha programme.

Christchurch Refugee Experience

On September 4th Christchurch was hit by a 7.1 earthquake. Most families camped out under tables with buckets as toilets. Everybody was affected in different ways. People cringed when trucks passed. It sharpened all your senses. No deaths occurred because it was so early in the morning. Hundreds of aftershocks followed.

On February 23rd Christchurch was hit by another major earthquake except this time it was a 6.3. Even though it was smaller, many lives were stolen leaving Cantabrians heartbroken. Many families have taken refuge in Nelson and Motueka. We are five of the Cantabrian refugees staying in room 6 Madde, Jamie, Tegan, Tayla and Joosje. We all agree we feel safer in Motueka and its great that we can go to school away from all the shakes.

We do a waiata every morning. The names of our groups are in Maori. They are Kahurangi, Kowhai, Papura and Kakariki. We write the date in Maori. The teacher says hello in Maori at the start of the day and good bye at the end of the day. The maths groups are called tahi and rua. The reading groups are called Kowhoi, Rimu, Pohutukawa and Totara.

In Rm6 we do writing, reading and handwriting. We write every morning for half an hour. We write either topics Mrs Adams sets for us, own topics or our diary.On Friday we write about our week.

In Rm6 we love to read. We come in after lunch every day and read for ten to twenty minutes. We either read our books from the school library, core library or the class library. Mrs Adams reads to us as well after lunch.

Last of all we do handwriting. We write the date in Maori and practise the letter Mrs Adams gives us. We are learning to link all our handwriting.

We start and finish the year with swimming. The rest of the year we have two P.E sessions, one sports session and three fitness sessions every week.

Throughout the year we do Jump jam, Padda Tennis,Soccer, Basketball, Netball, Rugby and year 5 and 6 take part in Rippa Rugby.

Purple Cake Day is a day when people dress up in purple. They dress up in purple because a lady called Emily started a fund to raise awareness of the children who were in the Haiti earthquake. Emily lost her husband and her two daughters in the earthquake. Her third daughter was pulled from the rubble after 22 hours. The reason why it's purple is because her daughter died a week before her birthday and she wanted two purple cakes. Purple cake day raises money for the children in Haiti.

CATS ARE AWESOME

Some of my hobbies are motorbiking, fishing and bmxing. I have a 90cc motorbike and I really like riding it. My friends are Hamish, Harry, Dasha, Joseph, Callum, Jack and Rafe. I play soccer for the Motueka Spurs. We are third on the table and are going into the playoffs which we really want to win. I have a 6 years old dog called Holly and we got her when I was 4 years old She is a labrador corgy cross and I play with her all the time. She loves going for walks so I take her to the Kumaras and she goes bonkers. She is brown and a tiny bit of black. I also have a black cat called Lilly who is 2 years old. She really likes going next door to hunt birds and normally comes back with a few. I live at 5b Fearon Street just across the road from the holiday park so Harry and I go there alot to play on the Bouncy pillows and the little three wheeler go kart thing.

We use fireworks to put captions in photos and make a slide show.I learnt a lot from this corse and i do not have a computer at home so later in life at high school.Thanks a lot to our teacher Mr Bailey he help me a lot.We learnt to put a movie.
